Frequently asked
How do I add documents?+
Tap “Add PDF” and pick one or more PDFs from the system file picker. Recall extracts their text and indexes them on your device. Recall only ever sees the files you choose.
Is anything uploaded to the cloud?+
No. Your documents, the search index, your questions and the answers all stay on your device. The only time Recall uses the internet is when you choose to download a language model — and that request never includes your files or questions.
What’s the difference between Search and Ask?+
Search jumps straight to the passages that match your words, with the source document and page. Ask uses an on-device language model to read those passages and write a short answer in plain language, citing the sources it used.
Do I need to download a model?+
Only for Ask. Search works immediately without any download. For Ask, pick a model once from Settings → On-device models; afterwards it works fully offline. Smaller models are faster; larger ones give higher-quality answers.
Which languages are supported?+
The interface and the multilingual models (including Turkish) handle many languages. Answers are written in the same language as your question.
Which devices does Recall run on?+
iPhone and iPad. Larger documents and bigger models benefit from newer devices with more memory.
How do I remove a document or start over?+
Swipe a document in your library to delete it, which also removes it from the search index. Deleting the app removes everything — your library, index and any downloaded model.
